Challanges Day - world record attempts
Challenges Day is a special community occasion for Veszprém–Balaton European Region of Sport 2026, a day that welcomes participants rather than spectators. There are four key elements to the event, which have been certified and documented by Guinness World Records Ltd and documented public record attempts.
Screening roadshow in Veszprém concludes with Olympic champions
The first stage of the Sportregion health screening roadshow is coming to an end. On Friday, February 20, we look forward to welcoming everyone who cares about prevention and would like to draw strength from Hungary's sporting legends to the auditorium of Pannon University in Veszprém.
Tourism and sports activities in the region are in motion!
The Veszprém-Balaton region is also on the move in terms of tourism. Following the success of the European Capital of Culture program, sports and active recreation have now taken center stage. In light of this, the region's Tourism Season Opening was held for the first time this year in Veszprém, which clearly focused on the title of Veszprém-Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 and on building a common future.

Free screening roadshow kicks off in the Sports Region!
The Sportrégió 2026 free screening roadshow will be visiting more than 10 towns and cities from January 22, offering residents modern health checks and inspiring presentations.

The city of Veszprém, in partnership with the Balaton region, is vying for the prestigious title of European Region of Sport 2026. One of the most significant milestones on the road to securing this recognition was the recent visit by the international jury of ACES Europe. During their stay, the delegation explored the region’s key sporting venues and engaged with the communities, professionals and decision-makers behind the bid.
Our Short Film Submitted to the ACES Europe Film Award
Veszprém and the Bakony–Balaton region have submitted an inspiring short film to the ACES Europe 2025 international video competition. At the heart of the film is the personal story of Botond Birnbauer, a para-swimmer from Veszprém, whose example authentically represents the power of sport to build communities and improve quality of life. The aim of the submission is to show that the joy of movement and access to sport are values that should be available to everyone.
