This school year, sailing was incorporated into the curriculum at the Györgyi Dénes Elementary School in Balatonalmádi. As part of the Association for Children in Sailing’s 2026 Sailing School Program, the school’s fifth-grade students participate in theoretical and practical sailing instruction every week during a double physical education class. Pétanque in the Middle of Lake Balaton – The Festival Ended with a Special Final

The 4th Balaton Pétanque and Mölkky Festival came to a close on Sunday, September 6, with a unique sporting experience: the grand final of the three-day international event’s pétanque tournament was held—not on a traditional court this time, but in the middle of Lake Balaton, on the deck of a BAHART ferry. Partnerships that work

91 municipalities, sports clubs, educational institutions, civil society organizations, and professional partners are working together to achieve the goals of the Region of Sport. These collaborations are not based on campaigns, but on long-term shared thinking.

Local venues that bring life to communities all year round

One of the most tangible outcomes of Veszprém–Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 is VitalPoint network.
These initiatives, which provide local community spaces for exercise, are not one-off events but year-round programs— in small towns, cities, and for multiple generations.

Health and Inclusion in the Region of Sport

  • Health Screening Roadshow

We took the opportunity for prevention from to municipality so that as many people as possible could take a step toward a more conscious, active lifestyle.

  • Inclusive sports programs

Leisure sports activities and inclusive venues implemented with the involvement of target groups with special needs, ensuring that physical activity is accessible to everyone.

Success stories aren't over yet

The programs of the Region of Sport 2026 are constantly expanding—with new venues, new communities, and new shared achievements.
