The Kerekítő program for preschool kids is a complex, experience-based methodology, mostly involving parent-child participation. Each session begins with an interactive puppet show that stimulates the kids' imagination and sets the theme for the lesson. The program is based on Hungarian folk traditions, well-known folk songs, sayings, and notable daily and seasonal themes.
In the musical part, I use various instruments: the zither, the flute, the Shaman drum, the metallophone, and other percussion instruments. These serve to develop kids' musical sensitivity, and develop a sense of rhythm. Kids spend quality time with their parents.
Kerekítő kindergarten fun in Kapolcs: I supplement Kerekítő sessions with active elements, including, among others,
- high-energy games,
- cross-directional exercises,
- tasks requiring spatial orientation.
Movement combined with storytelling helps kids' imaginations to flourish, while also providing them with a shared experience, allowing them to interact, imitate, move to a rhythm, and learn through play.
During Kerekítő sessions, I use playful elements and movements that have an impact on several areas of development:
- gross and fine motor skills
- sense of rhythm and musical skills
- speech rhythm and language skills
- body awareness and spatial perception
- attention, imitation, and cooperation
The activity thus contributes to the kids' motor development in a complex way, while maintaining the loving, safe, and experience-centered atmosphere characteristic of Kerekítő.
