Introduction

The Hungarian Orienteering Federation (MTFSZ) was founded in 1970 and currently serves as the professional and competition organizing center for orienteering in Hungary, in addition to functioning as the exclusive representative of the sport in the country. The objective of the program is to facilitate participation in sporting activities, to engender a sense of enjoyment, and to encourage the development of athletes across all age groups. The primary objective of the association is the promotion of orienteering as a healthy and community-building activity, combining nature, sport, and mental challenges.

MTFSZ is responsible for the coordination of the domestic competition system, the provision of support for the work of associations, the organization of training courses, and the representation of Hungary in international orienteering associations. The association places particular emphasis on the training of the next generation, the development of school programs, and the advancement of digital mapping and timing systems. MTFSZ is a constituent of the International Orienteering Federation (IOF), of which Hungary is one of the ten founding members.
