Introduction

The Balaton-felvidéki (Balaton Uplands) National Park was established in 1997 along the northern shore of Lake Balaton, covering an area of approximately 57,000 hectares, including the Kis-Balaton, Keszthely Mountains, Tapolca Basin, Káli Basin, Pécsely Basin, and the Tihany Peninsula. The operational area extends beyond Veszprém and Zala counties to include several surrounding areas and Natura 2000 sites.

The directorate's tasks include nature conservation, landscape protection, nature conservation management, and the development of ecotourism and awareness raising, with special exhibition venues and guided programs. Availability & Operation

Their operational center is in Csopak, and customer service is available on weekdays at the main office located at 16 Kossuth Street, Monday to Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Meeting and visitor points include: Tapolca Lake Cave Visitor Center, Lóczy Cave Visitor Center (Balatonfüred), Lavender House (Tihany), Hegyestű Geological Exhibition (Monoszló), Salföld Manor, Pannon Observatory (Bakonybél), Kápolnapuszta Buffalo Reserve, Kis-Balaton Visitor Center, House of Forests (Bakonybél) and other exhibition sites.
