Start

We’ll set off on our hike from the BB365 center in Balatonfüred, heading into the interior of the peninsula. We’re already greeted by a fantastic array of scents and colors.

Akasztódomb Market, Inner Lake

We arrive at Akasztódomb Market and soon leave the asphalt behind to approach Lake Belső with a short ride. Here, the trio of silence, tranquility, and nature welcomes us.

Watchtower Lookout, Ancient Lavender Field

The sight of the vine arbors has barely ceased to amaze us when we find ourselves already beneath the Watchtower Lookout. We reach the hilltop on foot, leaving our bicycles at Őslevendulás. From here, it’s a 15-minute easy hike to the lookout. It’s worth the effort, as a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Lake Balaton and the Balaton Uplands unfolds before us. The view is beautiful; we almost feel as if we’re on an island, as if the water completely surrounds us.

Sajkod, Balatonfüred

After taking in the breathtaking panorama, we head down to the western side of the peninsula &and rode just a few meters from Lake Balaton along a forest path, passing by the romantic beach of Sajkod and continuing on toward Balatonfüred.

Apáti Church, Belső Lake

We stop briefly at Apáti Church, rebuilt on Árpád-era foundations. From here, we’ll ride up a paved bike path to the outskirts of Tihany, enjoying a Mediterranean atmosphere.

Apátság, Visszhangdomb

To wrap up our tour, we’ll head back up—though if we arrive during the summer tourist season, we’ll have to get off our bikes here and there—to visit the peninsula’s must-see attractions, the Abbey and the Echo. Here, we might even have time for a quick coffee or a pastry, then we’ll glide back to our starting point along an exciting serpentine road.
