BBT-Guided eBike Tour: Panoramic Views of Nivegy Valley

St. Balázs' Church Ruins

We’ll start our tour in Szentantalfa, and our first stop will be the ruins of St. Balázs' Church, from where we’ll have a spectacular view of Nivegy Valley, the vineyards of Szentantalfa, and Lake Balaton. The church dates back to the 13th century; an interesting fact is that, in all likelihood, at the beginning of the 20th century, Adolph Joseph Lanz, who was involved in occult philosophy and is also cited as the founder of the modern Templar Order, purchased the church and, after making minor alterations, moved in. Traces of these alterations have since been removed.

Halom Hill

We backtrack for a short stretch and continue our journey up Halom Hill, located north of Dörgicse. We climb up to Kossuth Lookout and admire the view unfolding before us: Lake Balaton, the monadnocks, the southern part of the Bakony Hills, and all the monadnocks in miniature. From here, you can even run all the way around Lake Balaton without getting tired!

The Kisfalud-Dörgicse Deserted Church

After a roll down the forest slope from Halom Hill, we reach a large large field, at the end of which, before reaching the paved road, we’ll slow down and take a look at the ruins of the Kisfalud-Dörgicse Desert Church.

Dörgicse

We arrive in Dörgicse on a paved road, where we make a brief stop at the ruins of the St. Peter's-Dörgicse twin churches next to the wooden grave markers, and then, at the ruins of the Church of Our Lady in Dörgicse, we enjoy the view of Lake Balaton from the foot of the ancient walls.

Zánka, Szentantalfa

From Dörgicse, we descend off-road again, until we turn onto the bike path around the lake, which we follow all the way to Zánka. Along the way, we slow down again to take a closer look at the vehicles on display at the Military Technology Park, and then we’ll return to Szentantalfa.
