Challanges Day - world record attempts
Challenges Day is a special community occasion for Veszprém–Balaton European Region of Sport 2026, a day that welcomes participants rather than spectators. Its goal is to show, in a single day and as a shared experience, that an active lifestyle is not just about sporting achievements, but is also a source of community strength, togetherness, and a forward-looking attitude.
There are four key elements to the event, which have been certified and documented by Guinness World Records Ltd and documented public record attempts. These movements, which are essentially movement-based, are not short snapshots, but rather a mass public experience that spans the entire day and, we hope, will be successful, forming a sense of belonging together that draws in new communities hour by hour.

12-hour relay race over 100 meters Active (Sports and Movement) Veszprém, Megyeház Square We know that Padua is one of Europe's oldest university cities, and as such, it never stays in its comfort zone. Nothing proves this better than the fact that in 2013, they decided to set the bar high and, with the participation of 2,405 people, broke the world record for the highest number of people to complete a 12-hour 100-meter relay race. We want to surpass this commendable achievement on March 21, proving that Veszprém and its region are also capable of creating exemplary community sporting achievements on a global scale, Galileo or no Galileo.

Running with high knee lifts Active (Sports and Movement) Veszprém, Old Town Square Large-scale, synchronized community activities are common in Hong Kong, so we can't even imagine what could tie this seemingly easy-to-set record to them. They probably did it on top of a skyscraper—but that's their problem. Old Town Square is perfect for us, as while at least 673 of us are warming up for the day, the task is to do high knee lifts for 30 seconds, and we won't even notice that we've bagged our first world record.

Stationary running Active (Sports and Movement) Veszprém, Old Town Square In 2016, Melbourne showed that progress isn't always measured by distance. 2,195 people ran at the same time, in one place, side by side. That's what we're doing now, because the beauty of running in place is that none of us can be faster or slower than the others. There is no room for competition here, only willpower counts. Let's prove to the world that at least 2,196 of us believe that even when running in place, we can still share a common direction.

Hopping on one leg Active (Sports and Movement) Veszprém, Old Town Square With 1,303 participants, Barcelona proved that balance is not only a physical issue, but also a social one. Twenty seconds may not seem like much time, but jumping on one leg with full focus can feel like an eternity—but perhaps that is the point: paying attention. Deep breaths, concentration, and shared consciousness, just like in Stranger Things. If we can tune into each other, we will surely succeed. When you have 20 seconds, try it at home on your own, then come on March 21 and let's do it together, as a group.
