This is where you belong
Real places. Real opportunities. Real encounters.
In my series, I showcase sports venues and communities where sports are accessible even to kids with special needs. First, I visited Veszprém Cheerleaders for a practice session to show: what this all means in practice, who they welcome, how the sessions are conducted, and who interested families can contact.
The series showcases initiatives made possible with support from the Veszprém–Balaton European Region of Sport 2026 program— real places, real opportunities, and the people who work day in and day out to ensure that sports are truly accessible to everyone.
Introducing Veszprém Cheerleaders
Starting in September 2026, Veszprém Cheerleaders launched the “One Team, One Rhythm” inclusive exercise program, which aims to make sports and physical activity accessible to children with special needs.
Specific participation and the group most suitable for the kid should be determined based on prior consultation because which activity and what level of physical exertion is appropriate depends on the kid’s individual needs.
There's no special workout here. Exercise is part of everyday life here.
Which classes are open to kids with special needs?
Several groups may be suitable, depending on age, abilities, and individual needs.

For the competitive groups, children with special needs may also join based on individual consultation.
What kinds of special needs might the children have?
We are primarily looking for applications from childrenwho can engage in physical activity and community sports under appropriate conditions. For example:
- kids on the autism spectrum,
- kids with ADHD,
- kids with special educational needs (SNI),
- kids with social, learning, or behavioral difficulties,
- kids with motor coordination difficulties,
- kids with mild mobility impairments,
- kids with other specific support needs.
Applications are processed on a case-by-case basis, as every kid is different. It is important to them that the activity be safe, enjoyable, and provide a sense of accomplishment for the kid.
If necessary, there is an opportunity to discuss the kid’s needs in detail with the parents in advance, their mobility, and which activities they can best participate in.

Another place in the region where we’re not looking for who’s different from whom. Instead, we’re looking for how we can move forward together.
Thank you, Veszprém Cheerleaders!
