RISE - This movie packs a punch
This is the second time he has proven that he can have an impact on people. To those who are able to step a little closer and catch a glimpse of a world that they perhaps still often view from the outside.
And once again, it becomes clear to me that RISE is capable of ensuring that disability isn’t the first thing we see—but rather, the person.
Let’s not put yoursef in the other person’s shoes, let’s not feel sorry for yourself because of an imagined situation, but let’s try to truly see them.
How much the power of community can offer. How much movement can help in a healing way. How it can build your self-esteem.
And when you think about it: you don’t have to live with a disability to experience this.
Intent and openness can break down barriers in every area of your life. They influence how you make decisions, how you cope with situations, and how you relate to one another.
This is what RISE gives me. Over and over again.
Perhaps that’s another reason why this movie is so important to me—because there are so many things you’d like to achieve effortlessly. Without a struggle. Without breaking a sweat. Then, when something presents a challenge, you tend to view it as an obstacle.
Yet it may be precisely at such times that you need the most determination and openness.
Approaching problems, conflicts, and difficulties with a willingness to find solutions and an open heart—it’s really no big deal.
Or is it?
