One Rhythm, One Goal, One Community: The 2026 European Region of Sport Dragon Boat Cup is Coming to Balatonfüred
On Saturday, August 8, 2026, visitors to the shores of Lake Balaton can once again look forward to a special sporting event. Picturesque Balatonfüred, on Tagore Promenade, will host the European Sports Strategy 2026 Dragon Boat Cup, which will be much more than just a spectacular water race: it will be a celebration of community, cooperation, and team spirit.
One of the greatest strengths of dragon boat racing is that each stroke only propels the boat forward when the team members are working in unison. This idea is also at the heart of the event.
“True strength is not born from fighting against one another, but in the moment when people begin to move in the same direction for one another.”
(Karolina Ficsor)
In the competition , teams from civil society groups, sports clubs, companies, corporations, and BM organizations—join forces to compete—or rather, to demonstrate what cooperation can achieve. After all, on the water, there is no rank and no hierarchy. Just one boat, a shared rhythm, and a single goal toward which everyone rows in unison.
Registration for the race has already closed, and the field is ready to fill Lake Balaton with exciting races. However, there’s still plenty of room on the shore for anyone who’d like to be part of this special atmosphere.
Tagore Promenade is an excellent venue for families, groups of friends, and sports enthusiasts to follow the spectacular races up close, while experiencing the sense of togetherness that is one of the most important messages of dragon boat racing.
If you’d like to see how twenty people become a single unit, how sport brings together people from different backgrounds into a community, then Balatonfüred on August 8 is the place to be!
